Covid setting updates November 18

Today the State Government has made several announcements around the Covid Safe settings in Victoria. Some of these changes will effect what the rules are at EKGA.

Vaccination

We received information from DHHS that from 19/11/2021 that we will only be able to admit young people (aged 12-15 years) if they are FULLY VACCINATED. This brings the rules in line with the rules that are currently in place for young people aged 16 and above. We don’t want to be turning children / young people away at the door as this will be quite distressing, so it is important we are informed of their vaccination status in advance.

Mask wearing

Masks are now only required in a limited number of settings. One of these settings is primary schools. Given the bulk of children in the gym at peak times is made up of primary school age children the current mask requirement (mask wearing for all Adults and for children in Grade 3 and above) will remain in place for now. Given physical distancing is impossible in Kinder Gym and Playnastics programs – mask wearing will still be required in these settings.

Spectators

With the limited space we have in the waiting areas it makes making physical distancing impossible if we have spectators present. With case numbers still so high and our participants aged under 12 not being yet able to be vaccinated, we will not yet be reintroducing spectators. We plan to start 2022 with spectators back inside (if not sooner)!

Check in

By now we hope you are all familiar with ensuring your child is checked in each session they attend. Now that you are all in the swing of it there will not always be someone stationed at the door to assist you with checking in. You are still required to do so, and staff may ask for proof of check in at any time. Vaccination certificates will be checked so please ensure you have yours in your phone.
